Your privacy is one of our primary concerns. CalChamber makes every effort to provide you with a safe and private environment. This privacy policy ("Policy") tells you what information we gather and how we use it. It applies to CalChamber's Employee Handbook Creator ("EHC"), along with all CalChamber websites including but not limited to Calchamber.com, Store.calchamber.com, HRCalifornia.com, and HRWatchdog.com (collectively referred to as "CalChamber Sites"). This Policy does not apply to affiliate websites that have published their own privacy policies. This Policy also does not apply to the websites of our business partners or to any third parties, even if their websites are linked to CalChamber Sites. We recommend you review the privacy policies of the other parties with whom you interact.

For the purposes of this Policy, "Business Partners" means any subcontractor, vendor or other entity with whom we have an ongoing business relationship to provide products, services or information.

Please read this Policy carefully to understand our policies and practices regarding your information and how we will treat it. If you do not agree with our policies and practices, your choice is not to use CalChamber Sites. By accessing or using the CalChamber Sites, you agree to this Policy. This Policy may change from time to time. Your continued use of the CalChamber Sites after we make changes is deemed to be acceptance of those changes, so please check the Policy periodically for updates.

Information We Collect

We may ask you to provide personal information when you:

  • Use CalChamber Sites.
  • Request services, support or information.
  • Place orders for products or services.
  • Participate in surveys, sweepstakes, or other promotional activities.
  • Share CalChamber content through social media.
  • Subscribe to newsletters, download white papers or other materials or.
  • Contact us.

Information we may request includes your email address, name, title, address, telephone number, social media public profile or business/company information ("Personal Information"). If you make a purchase, we may ask for your credit card number and billing information. Forms that you may fill in will indicate whether information requested is required or optional.

We may collect information about your visits to CalChamber Sites, including the times of access, the pages you view, the links and ads you click, search terms you enter, and other actions you take in connection with CalChamber Sites and services. We may also collect certain information from the browser you used to access a CalChamber Site, such as your Internet Protocol (IP) address, browser type and language, access times, the Uniform Resource Locator (URL) of the website that referred you to the CalChamber Site and to which website you browse.

In order to offer you a more consistent and personalized experience in your interactions with CalChamber Sites, information collected through one source may be combined with information obtained through other CalChamber resources. We may also supplement the information we collect with information obtained from other parties.

Some CalChamber offerings may be co-branded and offered in conjunction with another company. If you register for or use such offerings, both CalChamber and the other company may receive information collected in conjunction with the co-branded services and may use the information according to each company's privacy policy and other agreements with you.

Information Usage

CalChamber uses your personal information to:

  • Deliver the services and support or carry out the transactions you have requested.
  • Send communications to you, such as your transaction status (for example, order confirmations), information about products and services, promotional offers, and surveys.
  • Customize, analyze and improve our products, services, technologies, communications, and relationship with you./li>
  • Protect the security or integrity of CalChamber Sites, our business, or our products or services.
  • Otherwise, as disclosed to you at the point of collection.

Disclosing of Your Information

CalChamber may disclose your Personal Information to third parties to carry out the transactions you request and to fulfill the purpose for which you provide it. We may also disclose your Personal Information to Business Partners to provide you with information you may find useful (for example, partner discounts and upcoming activities), so that you can share through social media, and to update our records. In addition, we may disclose your Personal Information when legally required, to enforce or apply our Terms of Use., to protect our rights, and in specific situations in which you have provided your consent.

CalChamber may also disclose aggregated information about our users and information that does not identify any individual, without restriction.

Collection and Use of Children's Information

CalChamber Sites are not intended for children. No one under age 13 may provide any personal information to or on the CalChamber Sites. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are under 13, do not use or provide any information on the CalChamber Sites or through any of its features, make any purchases through the CalChamber Sites, or provide any information about yourself to us, including your name, address, telephone number, email address, or any screen name or username you may use. If we learn we have collected or received personal information from a child under 13 without verification of parental consent, we will delete that information. If you believe we might have any information from or about a child under 13, please contact us at customer.service@calchamber.com.

Cookies and Tracking

CalChamber Sites use "cookies" to enable you to sign in to our services and to track your traffic patterns. A cookie is a text file that is placed on your computer's hard drive. Cookies help us personalize and make improvements to CalChamber Sites so that you can have a pleasant and productive experience. You can set your browser to send a warning message before accepting cookies or to refuse cookies. Check your browser for instructions on how to handle cookies. If you choose to decline cookies, you may not be able to use all of the features of CalChamber Sites.

Online Behavioral Advertising by CalChamber and Others

CalChamber also works with third party advertising and personalization partners that use cookies to help us display personalized content and appropriate advertising during your visits to CalChamber Sites and other websites. These cookies identify the pages you view, the links and ads you click on, other actions you take on those web pages, and the site from which you came before arriving at a web page. This also helps us measure the performance of our advertising campaigns.

Similarly, third parties use cookies to deliver advertising for companies other than CalChamber to you on the Internet, whether you are on CalChamber Sites or other websites, based on your visits to CalChamber Sites and other websites. These cookies assist the third parties in identifying the pages you view, the links and ads you click on, other actions you take on those web pages, and the site from which you came before arriving at a web page.

We do not control these third parties' tracking technologies or how they may be used. If you have any questions about an advertisement or other targeted content, you should contact the responsible provider directly. "Do Not Track" Signals

Please note that while you may have the ability to opt-out of targeted advertising through the www.networkadvertising.org/choices link above and you may be able to control the use of cookies through your web browser as described in the "Cookies and Tracking" section above, some web browsers may give you the ability to enable a "do not track" setting that sends a special signal to the websites you encounter while web browsing. This is different from disabling certain forms of tracking by declining cookies in your browser settings, as browsers with the "do not track" setting enabled can still accept cookies. CalChamber does not respond to web browser "do not track signals" at this time. If we do so in the future, we will describe how we do so in this Policy.

Email Marketing

Some marketing you receive, including email marketing, may also be personalized based on your visits to CalChamber Sites. In addition, when you click on some links in the email marketing, our email service provider may place a cookie on your browser. This cookie would be linked to your email address and used to gather information about the products and services you view on CalChamber Sites. Information gathered may be used to personalize and customize future email marketing messages you receive. You may opt out of receiving email marketing by clicking on the unsubscribe link provided in the email message you receive from CalChamber.

Third Party Sites

Please be aware that other websites that may be accessed through CalChamber Sites may collect personal information about you. The information practices of those third-party web sites are not covered by this Policy. CALCHAMBER DOES NOT HAVE ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE PRACTICES OF ENTITIES, WEBSITES AND/OR OTHER SITES NOT OWNED BY THE CALIFORNIA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE.

Credit Card Data

CalChamber recognizes your concerns about web commerce and transactions using bank and credit card information. This section outlines how we handle the storage of credit card data and our compliance with Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (“PCI DSS”) requirements.

When you make a purchase or transaction on the CalChamber Sites, we may ask for certain information, including your credit card details. This information is necessary to process your payment securely and efficiently. To facilitate transactions and payments on our CalChamber Sites, we use third-party services and payment processors. These third-party services may collect and process certain information, including credit card details, on our behalf. However, we ensure that any third-party services we use are compliant with applicable data protection regulations and industry standards.

We do not store or retain your credit card information on our servers or databases. When you make a purchase or transaction on our platform, your credit card details are securely transmitted to our payment processor for immediate processing. This approach minimizes the risk associated with storing sensitive financial information and helps ensure the security of your data.

While we do not store credit card information, we still adhere to the PCI DSS requirements. Our compliance with PCI DSS includes:

  • implementing secure transmission protocols for credit card data;
  • regularly assessing and validating our payment processing processes; and
  • ensuring that any third-party services we use for payment processing are PCI DSS compliant.

Data Security

We have implemented measures designed to secure your personal information from accidental loss and from unauthorized access, use, alteration, and disclosure. All information you provide to us is stored on our secure servers behind firewalls.

The safety and security of your information also depends on you. Where we have given you (or where you have chosen) a password for access to certain parts of the CalChamber Sites, you are responsible for keeping this password confidential. We ask you not to share your password with anyone.

Unfortunately, the transmission of information via the internet is not completely secure. Although we do our best to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee the security of your personal information transmitted to the CalChamber Sites. Any transmission of personal information is at your own risk. We are not responsible for circumvention of any privacy settings or security measures contained on the CalChamber Sites.

Notification of Privacy Changes

CalChamber reserves the right to change this Policy at any time. When changes are made, they will be posted to the CalChamber Sites immediately with a revised Effective Date, which is located at the beginning of this page. We encourage you to periodically review this Policy.

Editorial Guidelines

Policy Guidelines for Editorial Content

The goal for editorial content on the CalChamber Sites is to be accurate, fair, complete, and ethical. We are committed to a policy of editorial neutrality. Although some content on the CalChamber Sites contain information about legal issues, the content is not intended to serve as legal advice. Users who have specific questions about legal issues should consult with legal counsel.

Content from External Sources and Links to External Sites

Content from external sources will be labeled to indicate the source of the information when the information was not generated by the Website's editorial staff. Content on the site may contain links to non-CalChamber Sites content. These links do not constitute an endorsement of the linked content and CalChamber does not guarantee the accuracy of the linked content.

Corrections and Clarifications

We are committed to quickly correcting any factual errors or errors in interpretation. Editorial staff members will address any errors brought to their attention and make an appropriate correction as soon as possible. This includes misspellings as well as factual or information errors identified in archival articles after they have been published. The goal is to correct all content, so no errors remain in our permanent archive. We also will provide clarifications in cases where, in our judgment, the wording or the headline on an article may lead to misinterpretation.
